A couple of weeks ago (when it was just a bit cooler and more like Winter than being just around the corner from Spring!) I met up with Michael and Clare at Sandbanks for their engagement photo-shoot – they’re getting married in July this year in Bournemouth with their reception at The Italian Villa.
Clare thought it would be nice to shoot on the beach, but bearing in mind it’s March I wasn’t too hopeful, but hey, what the heck? In the end we had a great time, and I even persuaded them to bring their wellies so that they could go paddling – I love Clare’s, although somehow I can’t quite see them making an appearance with her wedding dress!
Afterwards a warming coffee in a trendy bar helped us thaw out as we went over some of the plans for their special day. I’ve attached a small slide-show below of some of my favourites from the shoot – here’s hoping that it’s just a bit warmer and brighter on their wedding day!

Over the past couple of years I think it’s fair to say that most businesses have recognised the power of the internet, and the wedding industry is certainly no exception. Brides surf the Net looking for photographers, venues, caterers, planners and everything else ……. oh, and of course that little item called the wedding dress!
This little video from a marketing company is based on a survey conducted by the Oxford Research Agency and is full of interesting trivia about the way that we spend our “leisure” time now …… even the extent to which social networking has become the most popular pastime in the UK! It sort of begs the question – how would we manage if we didn’t have the Web?

It’s been so crazy recently that I’ve only just realised I hadn’t posted on the Blog for a while, so it’s time for a quick catch-up ……..
The other week I was asked if I’d like to help out on a charity photoshoot for a calendar – must admit the details were vague …. “top secret, somewhere in Somerset”, but it sounded intriguing and after a few days sat the PC it was a welcome break! It turned out to be a charity calendar shoot at one of Duncan Bannatyne’s hotels – Charlton House, organised by the ever smiling Gina. Let’s just say it was great fun, and if you want to check out Gina’s Blog, go to this link and while you’re at it, please consider donating for two very worthy causes – The Blue Lamp Foundation, and Help for Heroes.
Top secret must be a bit of a theme at the moment, because I’m currently working on something with a very special location but I can’t tell you anything just yet ….. you’ll have to wait a bit longer!
There’s a lot going on in the background at the moment, which means there’s not been a lot of photography over the past couple of weeks, but I did take some shots at Compton Acres recently for the website of my good friend Diana Saxby – Diana’s a Civil Celebrant, which for those who haven’t heard the term before means that she can conduct wedding ceremonies anywhere you want! Check out her website and give her a call …….
The very talented Olivier Depaep of 7876 Films was filming, and I shot some stills – typical weather for a wedding .. it was cold and grey!
To round things off, last week saw an engagement shoot with Michael and Clare, whose wedding I’m shooting in a few months in Bournemouth. When Clare asked if we could shoot on the beach (in March) I had my reservations, but we had a great time and I’ll be posting a few photographs in due course.
Yesterday’s sunny weather was perfect for a family portrait shoot in Hampshire, so now it’s back to the PC!
