Just where did 2011 go? Can someone let me know please?

It seems like only a few weeks ago that it was the peak of the wedding season in the UK, with wedding and portrait shoots most weekends across Dorset and Hampshire with lots of editing to do, and here we are just a few days away from the start of another year!

I really managed to neglect my Blog in 2011, so I’m determined to start 2012 with a real “bang” and entering a Blog Challenge for January, where I have to post on a daily basis (what was I thinking when I signed up for this??). I suppose I really have to blame my good friend Joanne Dewberry because she mentioned on Facebook that she’d entered, so not wanting to be outdone ……..
…. I know, I’ll regret it! :)

At least I’ll be able to catch up on some of this year’s wedding and portrait shoots, but I’m sure it’ll be a struggle some days, so don’t expect to find wedding photography in every Blog post …. there might be one or two surprise entries just so that I maintain my track record! According to the rules I can post twice one day and not the next if I want, just as long as I’ve got 31 posts for the month.

So, in the immortal words of someone from a long time ago, keep an eye on my Blog as this wedding photographer boldly goes where he’s never been before! :)

Take care, and have a great New Year’s celebrations!

Ian

The Chewton Glen Hotel (where I shoot some of my “Cherish” sessions) has just released some visuals of the new luxurious Tree House Suites that they’ll be building soon – looks fabulous and what a great place to hold a “Cherish” shoot (indeed a stunning place to honeymoon after your wedding!).

I’ve spoken out on this before, about the fashion and beauty industry fixating on models whose figures are then retouched and tweaked in Photoshop – this then puts so much pressure on youngsters to conform and have the “perfect body”. As a wedding and portrait photographer it’s my job to make my clients look as good as possible, but this is done with posing and lighting, not computer enhancements – “Photoshopping” an image takes away the true character and appearance of the client.

Well, it seems that H&M have gone one step further – they’ve admitted to taking photos of clothes on mannequins and then transferring these to a computer generated body! ‘We take pictures of the clothes on a doll that stands in the shop, and then create the human appearance with a program on [a] computer … The message is clear: buy our clothes, not our models.’

This is absolutely ridiculous!
